You’ll learn all of my tricks and get weaving in no time! You will leave class with a completed scarf and learn to weave like a pro, even if you’ve never touched a loom before
Join us at the Marcell Family Center
September 24-25 from 10 until 4.
- Day 1 I will introduce the loom and weaving terminology. We will determine the pattern of ribbon for warp and you will learn to direct warp the loom. We will begin weaving the weft threads.
- Day 2 Weaving fun continues and we learn how to remove the scarf from the loom and finish. I’ll teach several fringe options.
Materials List
I will provide the rigid heddle looms and tools. These are not included in the class cost but can be purchased for an additional fee.
- Scissors
- Pen for note taking
- Sack lunch or can dine at the Pine Cone Sandwich shop
This class is one of the most enjoyable. There will be a lot of weaving time to get to know each other. It makes sense that our ancestors from every corner of the earth have a rich history of weaving and community.
Weaving on a rigid heddle loom is a great introduction to basic weaving. This class takes it one step further with emphasis on warp threads. The end result is a scarf with a beautiful drape and weight. You will weave like a pro even if you’ve never even heard of a rigid heddle loom before!
This class is a beginner class with flair. It may look intimidating, but I walk you through all the steps and teach you to avoid the pitfalls.
I’ll share my #1 tip for a beautiful, no-stress warp.
A slang term for warp: Distorted by warping; twisted out of shape. adjective. 1. (figuratively) Of a person’s mind, attitude, humor etc, perverse, strange, aberrant or deviant.
